Laena scoffs. "That human girl is not yet dead? I've never heard of such a thing." She glances at Cloud. "Hmm.. Yet another well-known name that I assumed was dead. Cloud Strife..."

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Looking around for a brief while Bhaal eventually picks a course leading to one of the walls of the keep.

You know I have no idea where we are going in this place. I don't even know where 'this place' or who it belongs to.

"Yes, she's a curious thing. Well my work is done. Ta." Am seems to disolve out of existence, as if here was never really there.

Gale here's one telepathically. "I'm in the library fighting Chaos. Heh, this day is really starting to suck. Where are you?"

*he closes his eyes, stopping in his stride* I am. Whats it to you, Siren? I don't like dealing with your kind.

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Weren't you listening to anything that happened back there? Given the general mise-en-scene of the castle, I'd guess that it's the home of the weird one.
...
The one who was talking about poisons and so forth.

And you understand what a door is, yes? A mystical device that allows passage through walls. Hopefully without knocking the castle down. I don't want to speculate what's hiding here.

He sighs, and takes the lead from his seemingly incompetant foe/compainion

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

"Is that so, Cloud Strife? It is a shame that you are no longer of any interest to me, as you have lost what made you so appealing." She turns away. "I will not let this rumor of a human girl surviving the Siren poison get out. If she is not dead already, then I shall kill her myself." With that she leaves.

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

I get the idea but there are always many possibilities and generally I have discovered that the most obvious is rarely the actual case. As for the doro finding one on a place like this could be tricky. Finding an open one even more so and I would guess that the main keep is gonig to have magical protection of some kind.

I'm right outside. The Siren told me there's an entrance in the back but it is full of traps. Is there another way to get in? Hurry and tell me, I don't want to divert your attention from the fight any longer

"They're magical. Use your sense and you can avoid them. Any Abbis should be able to make it through if they're careful.

Exactly. but the best place to put something is exactly where you'd expect it to be. And you're the hard nut, have locked doors ever stopped you?

As for magical protection... well... there's only one way to find out, isn't there?

Bhaal 11-23-2003 03:13 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Locked doors. No I suppose not. Magical locks. Not for very long. Trap spells and the like though are a different matter and highly annoying.

Looking up and around at the walls and the gardens Bhaal picks a Lilac bloom and places it into his helmet.

You find a door anyway and I'll try to open it.

Toryu 11-23-2003 03:23 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Aww. And purple is so you! I think it makes a real statement!

After walking along the seemingly endlesss wall for a good while, our intrepid 'heroes' come across a corner. Clearly visible a fair way down there is a small door, evidently some kind of servant's entrance.

If I were you, I'd be careful... considering we've not been blown up by anything underfoot, I guess the door might be a good place to start getting twitchy.
Now, go and do your thing.

Bhaal 11-23-2003 03:54 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Walking around the corner to have a look at the door for himself Bhaal steps in front of Hayate.

It's just a door. Besides it doesn't look very important so it can't be too heavily guarded.

Casually walking up to the door Bhaal stops next to the door and puts his back to the wall besides it. Reaching to the handle from the door Bhaal tries to turn it although it doesn't move. Moving in front of the door Bhaal gives it a kick and the door gives way and gets knocked off its hinges. Through the newly opened doorway a small doglike creature steps out and starks yapping at Bhaals heels.

What on Earth is this? Some kind of mutated guard dog?

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

One nods to himself after hearing that last comment by Gale. He enters through the door and closes it behind him. He finds himself in a hallway lighted with torches mounted on the walls. Eyes follow him as he moves through it as there are pictures of Gale on the wall. He reaches the bottom of the staircase and looks up, he cannot see the end, the stairs lead into darkness.

Considering it's got an eye for a face, I guess not. And given the fact it's getting louder... Well, I'm going to stand back a fair bit.

True to his word, he backs off a fair way, and cover's his ears from the now rather high-pitched whine

Dissolves into a gaseous form, zipping throughout the room, materializing in front of Gale and then slashing him at point-blank range. "It seems that you will recieve even more unwanted vistors."

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Chaos' blade cuts into Gale's chest, splashing blood onto the angel. Gale winces and slashes at Chaos himself. "You're the first I've met that deserved the title of Arch Angel."

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Looking at the litte 'dog' yipping and then to Hayate Bhaal starts to wonder.

I take it that you know what this thing is then? Come one it can't be that deadly. I can't really see a mouth on it.

Looking back to the 'dog' as the whine gets even higher the 'dog' suddenly explodes in a green mist at Bhaals feet spreading blood and body parts all up his front leaving a rather surprised Bhaal looking down where the creature used to be.

Well that was... different. Door's open at least.

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

One picks his leg up and places his foot down on the first step of the wide staircase. He notes that this room is rather big, much bigger than some of the houses in the nearby villages. He wonders what would Gale need with such a castle. He's been here thousands of times, but never asked. He wonders all this as he stares into the flames of a torch on the wall. He then regains his sense and focuses on the task at hand. He then puts pressure on his leg and the first step creaks. He looks around cautiously for anything that might come out to get him. He then takes another step and once he think the coast is clear he raises his foot again to advance but is hit in the shoulder by something. It tears his skin but the wound is not deep. He then sits there and ponders. . . "Genius. I never gave Gale enough credit. It's the oldest trick in the book but yet many still fall for it. Okay, this is easy." He advances up a few more steps without any harm coming his way.

Winces after getting cut on the arm. "I see your aim has gotten rather better, no?" Swings his sword horizonally, jumping back afterwards to avoid a counterattack.

Gale 11-23-2003 04:29 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Gale holds out his free hand. He knew that his metal laced gloves couldn't hold Chaos' blade, so his aura focused in his hand? He got the blade but he could only hold it for a moment, he attempted to drop kick Chaos with a few moments he had.

Id. 11-23-2003 04:32 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

"My, that was rather a kick to the hips." While Gale is distracted with holding the sword, Chaos pulls the sword away and does a forward stab.

Toryu 11-23-2003 04:34 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

...

I guess that wasn't an original inhabitant.

Anyway, this has been too easy. I don't think that we'll get in without careful thought...

He peers in the doorway, looking for pressure pads or trip wires...

Oh well. What the hell?

Deciding that this is a good time to be decisive, he takes a few steps in before conjuring a light

I don't see anything...

Gale 11-23-2003 04:35 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Gale twists to try to avoid the blade, but it cuts deeply into his arm. He curses and does a series of backflips to put distance between him and the Angel. His left hand was already hurt from holding Chaos' blade, now his left arm was wounded. Now only able to use his right arm, Gale changed into a more intense and focused style.

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Reacting to Gale's attempt to "stay away," Chaos strikes the wooden floor with his sword, causing a fissure to head towards Gale, in the hopes of throwing him off balance.

Gale 11-23-2003 04:43 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Sure enough, the fissure does throw the Abbis off balance. He attempts to jumps but he moves to late, and is tossed like a ragdoll in the air. A strange glow bathes Sin as Gale falls through the air.

Id. 11-23-2003 04:47 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Taking the chance, Chaos throws his sword at Gale whilst he is distracted.

Bhaal 11-23-2003 04:48 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Well not seeing anything could be a good thing but then again it could be a bad thing. If you don't see anything then there may be nothing which is good but it also means that you may have missed something which is bad.

Looking around in the corridor behind Hayate in the darkness an aura of light surrounds Bhaal illuminating the nearby darkness.

I don't see why there should be any traps anyway. This is a castle. Servants probably use these corridors. They're not going to put traps in them. Probably.

Gale 11-23-2003 04:53 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

((To Bhaal and Toryu: You two are welcome to come up with your own traps if you want. I'm slightly pre-occupied at the moment. I do apologize.))

Gale's eyes widen as he sees the sword, and he holds out Sin. "Santo Nero!" A blast of magic that resembles a twisted, tainted Holy is released from Sin. Gale intended to harm the angel with it, due to his holy elemental status, but he rather NOT get impaled twice today. The blade is knocked away and Gale landed on his feet. Gale then slashed the ground to send a beam of energy the traveled across the floor toward Chaos.

Toryu 11-23-2003 04:57 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

There's a small 'click', a 'twang' and a 'thud' noise.

I guess it depends on the quality of the servants...

He's certain he didn't step on anything, or touch tripwires. He also takes great care not to show Bhaal the fact there's a crossbow bolt lodged in his shoulder armour

Hmm... Tell you what.... You go first.

Id. 11-23-2003 04:57 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Upon seeing the energy, Chaos wisely chooses not to be a sitting duck and jumps out of way. Upon letting the energy beam run it's course, Chaos flies towards his fallen sword, picking it up, later slashing upwards to Gale.

Gale 11-23-2003 05:02 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Gale flips to the side and takes a a slash to the stomach. The fact that he and Chaos are infront of each other is a rare oppertunity and getting a shot at this was worth taking the blow. Gale thrusts Sin forward, attempting the catch the Angel in the heart, if Angels even had them.

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

One continues up the steps. As he puts his foot down on the 16th step, he twists his body. To the untrained eye, it looks very awkward but One just dodged an arrow made of invisible energy. An old Abbissian trick. He continues up the steps andonce again, jumps out of the way as a loud thud is heard. Two spiked logs rammed into each other in the spot he just stood. One looks up to see how far he has left, he realizes he has quite a ways to go as he still only see darkness.

Id. 11-23-2003 05:21 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

"Ugh." Thankfully, Chaos stopped the blade from going any deeper than the ribs. Nevertheless, he was injured. He then clutches Sin, swining the sword in an effort to throw Gale away, while clutching on and keeping the sword.

Da_#1_Link 11-23-2003 05:27 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

After a few more close calls, One finally reaches the top. At the top of the staircase is a giant door. The Abbis pushes it open and finds himself in a large room. "A regular maze. . . "

Gale 11-23-2003 05:32 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Gale is tossed away by Chaos and he loses grip of Sin. After a moment of being disorientated. He tried to call Sin back to him.

Id. 11-23-2003 05:39 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Chaos lets the sword go... sharp side forward.

Gale 11-23-2003 05:42 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

Gale eye's widened and he kicked to try to knock the sword away, unfortunately, Sin impales his foot. Gale cries in pain as he pries Sin out. Gale stands shakinly, and Sin begins to glow once more.

Da_#1_Link 11-23-2003 05:51 PM

Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)

One moves around the castle a little bit, but it is hard. A lot of the rooms look the same: empty. Again, he wondered why Gale needed such a large home. He then makes it into a large room, with a long table in the middle. A single candle sits at the middle, it is probably lit at night he thought. But his mood has changed, he's made it to what looks like the dining room, the library cannot be too far. He walks out of the room and finds himself an another large room. This one looks like the biggest in the house. The walls are full of torn and tattered books. Many of them written in ancient languages, but One recognized it immediately as the Abbissian tongue. Thre were also shelves upon shelves in the middle of the room that reached high up to the ceiling. He figured this was the library, but he didn't hear any conflict or so. Maybe the battle had ended, or maybe the room is so large that you cannot shout from one side to the other? The Abbissian hovers up to the very top of th shelves and from up there he explores, looking for anything that might be happening.
